What is narrative therapy?

We all face difficulties in life, but that doesn’t mean we are the problem. Narrative therapy recognises that our experiences have many influences — including our history, relationships, culture, and wider systems of power — and that this can shape the way we see ourselves, our connections with others, and the way we live our lives. Sometimes the ways we make sense of things can feel painful or limiting.

In narrative therapy, we focus on what matters to you. Together, we explore your values, recognise strengths that may have been overlooked, and create space to relate to difficulties in ways that feel more aligned with who you are and how you want to live.

What I offer

Individual therapy for people over 18. Online sessions are via Zoom and I accept clients from around the world. I also offer in-person sessions in Roma Norte, Narvarte Oriente, and San José Insurgentes (Mexico City).

Sessions are 1 hour.

Costs:

  • People living in Mexico: $800 MX

  • People living in the global south: $50 USD

  • People living in the global north and/or earning a salary in a high value currency: $60 USD

My rates are negotiable and I also offer a limited number of free or low-cost sessions. If money is a barrier but you are interested in therapy with me, please still get in touch.

If you would like to have an informal 15 minute chat before deciding to book a session, I am happy to do this without charge.

Lots of people like to start with weekly sessions but there is no commitment to do so. Some people like to have a session every week or every two weeks; others prefer to arrange a session whenever they feel like it. It’s completely up to you.

Single session therapy

I also offer one-off single sessions. These are 90 minutes and I charge $20 USD more than the standard session rates or $1000 MX for those in Mexico.

Single session therapy can be useful if you have a specific issue that you would like to talk about, decision to make, or perhaps if you just feel you’d like a space to talk without the need for ongoing sessions.

My approach to therapy

I try and make therapy as flexible and collaborative as possible, because no-one’s life is the same and everyone’s story is unique. You are the expert in your life. Your therapy sessions are your space to feel listened to and to talk about the things that you want to talk about, whatever that might be.

My role is to have conversations together that can open up new ways of seeing things that can also change how we feel and how we approach situations.

I don’t provide diagnoses, but I’m happy to support you if you have one.
